ABC National Craft Championships
Celebrating Excellence in Skilled Trades
The construction industry thrives on the dedication, skill and craftsmanship of tradespeople who bring projects to life. Each year, the ABC National Craft Championships showcase the best and brightest in the skilled trades, providing a national stage for apprentices and craft trainees to demonstrate their abilities, compete against their peers and earn well-deserved recognition.
The NCC, hosted by Associated Builders and Contractors, is one of the most prestigious competitions in the construction industry, drawing competitors from across the country. This event not only highlights the technical skills of participants but also underscores the importance of workforce development and training programs like those offered through ABC-affiliated apprenticeship schools.
This year, we extend a huge congratulations to Jacob Buning for competing at the national level and proudly representing the Southeast Michigan Construction Academy and ABC SEMI at the ABC National Craft Championships. Jacob’s hard work, dedication and skill have set him apart, and his participation in this elite competition is a testament to his commitment to excellence in the trades.
Competing at the NCC is no small feat. Participants undergo rigorous training, demonstrate precision and put their expertise to the test in real-world scenarios. From carpentry and electrical work to HVAC and welding, the championships challenge competitors in multiple disciplines, reflecting the diverse skill sets required in the construction industry.
Jacob’s journey to the national stage is a reflection of SEMCA’s dedication to training the next generation of skilled professionals. SEMCA, as an ABC-affiliated training academy, prides itself on equipping students with hands-on experience, industry knowledge and the technical expertise needed to thrive in construction careers. Through rigorous training programs, mentorship and real-world application, SEMCA prepares individuals like Jacob to excel in their fields.
ABC SEMI has long been a supporter of skilled trades education and workforce development. By fostering an environment that encourages learning, competition and continuous improvement, ABC SEMI helps apprentices and trainees reach their full potential.
Jacob’s performance on the national stage reflects not only his personal dedication but also the strength of the training and mentorship provided by SEMCA and ABC SEMI.
Participating in the NCC is more than just a competition—it’s a platform to showcase the talent, discipline and professionalism that drive the construction industry forward. It also serves as a reminder of the importance of investing in skilled labor, celebrating craftsmanship and inspiring the next generation to pursue rewarding careers in the trades.
Once again, congratulations to Jacob Buning for representing SEMCA and ABC SEMI at the ABC National Craft Championships. Your hard work and determination have made us all proud, and we can’t wait to see where your skills and passion for the trades take you next!
